DOUGLAS TBD-1 DEVASTATOR

The Devastator entered in service in 1937 was then the most advanced aircraft in the naval aviation world, was the first naval monoplane, the first aircraft all metal builtd, the first to fold the wings and the first with a fully enclosed cockpit. It took its place at the beginning of the war but by the Battle of Midway in 1944 was very outdated and it was an easy target for the Japanese, after this battle the aircraft was retired from service, replaced by the Grumman TBF Avenger.

After Midway tthere were left 39 in all the US NAVY, none original is left today.

ELGIN 562 movement, was one of the most used in II WW by US ARMY, equiped a lot of planes as B-17, P-47, and others, very few were used by US NAVY, the main diference is the winding wheel was placed in the third quadrant in US ARMY clocks instead at 6 in the NAVY..
